A privately held California corporation founded in 1981, RMS began as a custom software development company creating systems for clients in manufacturing, distribution, retail sales and medicine. In 1983, RMS set its strategic focus entirely in the area of automated practice management systems. Developing and marketing its own software, the Alta Medical System, RMS grew to over 500 clients and nearly $l million in annual revenues.

In 1989, RMS began marketing and supporting the country's leading DOS based practice management system, IBM's Doctor's Office Manager (DOMS).

With the overwhelming market movement to Microsoft's Windows Operating Environment, RMS added the leading Windows based medical practice management system, Lytec Medical for Windows. Lytec was the first full 32 bit practice management system on the market and is currently the most popular Windows based practice management system in the country.
